Well, I hope that's the case, but if lexus want to start selling them off the lot early Oct, i am afraid the GS460 are already off the assembly lines and getting ready to be put on the vessel for its transpacific voyage.

I trully love my 02 GS430, as Im sure most on here do. But the 3rd gen has was a disapointment to me when it replaced the 2nd get back in 06. I love the looks of my 02 way better. And of course the low rating of 342 is another big hit against Lexus for me. I think the "good" years of lexus have passed. I honestly hate the ES, GS, 08 LX and even the new LS in comparison to their predesessors. Its frustrating is all Im saying. The only brand new Lexus I trully love...is the SC430..which is in its last year as well. God only knows what they are going to do to it! I think if I want a fast car, Im going to go with a new Corvette Z06.

My guess would be cost and that Lexus doesn't believe that 38 more HP would make it sell any more. In that sense they might be right.

The GS just gets the same engines that go in the other models and gets upgrades as those other models are upgraded. So this 'upgrade' isn't so much to make the GS better as much as they're just not keen to keep building a now obsolete engine (the 4.3). Although I guess they have to build it for the SC430 but those numbers are VERY small.

it seems only a small number of people (some enthusiasts) are disappointed, just because they didn't get the LS power rating.

when has lexus ever bumped hp by 90 at once?

Th eonly difference i see is the sterring wheel and the shifter guage base..which looks really good with that metal finish.

You can add the steering wheel to the list of things I don't like on the '08...

I also tend to believe they don't think the GS460 will increase overall GS sales by much even with 380hp+, & Toyota has always been a company that emphasize on making a good business case first, & bragging rights second (or last )

So much for sport luxury sales. I'm tell'n ya...Lexus has missed the mark again on the 3rd gen GS. The bang for the buck stops at the 2nd gen. I'll keep my 99' GS thank you.

Now the new LS460...WOW!!! Sooo Sweet.
