just wondering, are the front seatbacks different in this year because i dont recall seeing like a metal-type looking trim on both sides of the seat on the front seats. its kinda like almost halfway down the seat, it looks like from the 07 pics it used to be leather, now its shiny and not leather. look on that one pic on lexus.com in the photo gallery and the color gallery that shows the 07 model.

Hey, yeah, I also noticed that sliver trim in the front 2 seats. Seems to be different.

Hell the GS 350 might outperform it. That is nuts.

I am begining to question the entire team behind the 3GS.

want to look at the weight of the ls460?

like trd said, maybe it's about other standard equipments that was not standard before? i am curious too. i can't believe 200lb gain from tranny and engine

THATS HELL lot better than the standard 17 inch we have on the GS300/GS430. Thats why I got the optional 18 inch GS430 wheels placed on my car due to the cheap look of the old 17 inch standard.

there are a LOT of different pictures posted on lexus japan site, just kinda hard to navigate with japanese language.

I also noticed a lot of the pictures are photoshopped, believe it or not, I've seen it done on many different car makers too, i guess that's the cheapest way.

Yeah Henry, Lexus is changing b/c before low weight was a huge concern for efficiency.
I guess with the demands of more luxury and features and advances in engines/trannies, Lexus can add all these items and have good gas mileage.

well, lexus is still on top on most of the gas mileage numbers, so they still have some edge

I am sure if you special order one, you can get the one with pure leather.

The high end Mercedes and BMWs sold in the U.S. have all leather steering wheels.

Maybe, but what new standard features?????

All models gain side-view-mirror turn signals, and all GS 350/460 models offer new wheel designs. Inside, the 2008 GS instrument panel has been revised, and a new brushed-aluminum shift plate surround and wood-trim door switch plates accentuate the interior elegance. New interior choices include dark gray Bird's-eye Maple wood trim and new light gray leather trim. New for 2008, the fuel filler door and trunk releases have been moved to a more convenient location on the dash.

Maybe its the big *** chrome grill that weighs 200 pounds.

Only other option I can think of is because of higher safety regulations, but I honestly think most of the weight gain came from the new powertrain.
