New car
Honestly, I didn't even realize that - just thought 3rd gen., not '08. I'll create a new thread when we have the car, which won't be until this weekend (we have to pick it up some miles from home. We got what I believe was the only remaining brand new 2007 in obsidian/cashmere in the State of CA!

Car Price
If you think it's OK to post the price of an '07 on an '08 thread
We got a brand new '07 GS350 in Obsidian Black with Cashmere interior (literally, the only brand new one of those remaining in the State of California). We got the standard NAV package (the one with the 18" tires, rear window shade, cargo net, trunk mats, etc.) without ML but with XM satellite (we already subscribe). All in, $43,400 (plus tax and license), which is just about invoice as best as I can tell. We probably could have gotten it for $5-700 less if we had wanted to play the negotiating game, but a) we didn't, and b) as I said, it was the ONLY black with cashmere interior in the state of California, so we didn't want to take any chances!
It was the dealer who actually had the car on his lot that sold it to us for that price. We were talking to other dealers, too, who could have gotten it for us, but the best price was about $1000 more.
Hope that helps someone else.

Congratulations on getting the 2007 GS 350. Yahoo is also a good source to gauge invoice prices...

Invoice
Thanks. I had gotten the invoice estimate (including the Yahoo link) from this forum, and it was extremely helpful. The only thing I needed to search for was the invoice price on the packages and options, which I found on some other site. That's how we knew what was in the ballpark. I'm really indebted to all of you for that. To be honest, up until a week ago, we were inclined toward the Infiniti M35, but after test driving both, we both loved the Lexus (good thing....no argument!). Given that it was the end of the model year, we knew this would be a good time to buy and we had to act fast, especially since the color was important to us. Now we just have to hope the southern CA fires don't make the car smell of smoke
To those of you who are negotiating for 2007s, the initial offers we got for the same vehicle were in the $47K range. Ha!

Wrong thread! This is about 2008s not 2007s
I'm tickled pink that you got a great deal on a 2007, but WHY are you discussing it in a thread about the 2008s? Open a new thread already or post it in an existing one about the 2007s please. I'm tired of looking in this 2008 thread when new posts appear in it and hearing all this chatter about a 2007. Thanks.

Pre-Collision System again NOT there
But this year (2008) like last year (2007), the "Pre-Collision System (PCS) [8] and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control [9] $2,850 [4]" shows up in the long option list but is not offered when you try to build a Lexus 350(or 460). What is the point in having an option but not offering it?
