Default Navigation Question

OK, Keep in mind I just got my new GS.

Anyways, I let my wife drive my GS a couple of nights ago. Yesterday, I turn on my car and the Navigation screen had a black background when it normally has a white back ground. I was like cool. Then earlier today, I start my car and the Navigation screen had the white background again.

Now, I go out to my car and start it up and the Nav has a black background again. Does that have something to do whether is day or night outside? Is there a way to permantely keep the background black?

Thanks

Yes it changes depending on available light. When I drive through a long tunnel in daytime it changes to the black mode. Not sure if you can over ride this or not. I don't want to, so I never checked on it.

Yes, the light sensors switch your NAV to "NIGHT MODE" when driving in dim or dark lighthing. You can override this feature by going into your display settings and selecting the daytime mode when the night mode appears.

I like dark mode better. Can I overide the Nav to show dark mode permanately?

Not trying to be funny, but you can cover up the light sensors with black tape.

If you set your instrument panel to max brightness, it will stay on day mode all the time, maybe on instrument low brightness it will do the opposite.
