Hawaii and gas milage
Now that i know there are a few people from Hawaii reading here, whats your gas milage?
I get in Hawaii 17-18mpg on average. Very light foot. People say its Hawaii (too short drives) and that unless I constantly drive to town then to Wahiawa 25mi one way, I could get at least 19mpg+ if thats all I drive.
I drive short distances on average. about 3-4miles one way daily and once or twice a week about 15miles one way and I get about 17-18mpg.
Any other hawaii people get better?

on those fillups, how many miles are your driving at any one time? I'm trying to figure out if its really my short driving distance that is killing my milage.

ok. must be the short milage if compairing to yours. I have a 350, but at 4miles one way for 5 days, it probably killing it as its stop and go through a town.

Gay cart?! That's not nice.

Just put a deposit on a GS450h today and came upon this thread. At 4mi one way, you might want to consider a hybrid. My RXh gets 27-28mpg compared to 19 on a RX300. I'm sure it'll make a difference.
But I also say, if you can afford the car, don't complain about the gas. Not directed to you, but to all in general. Especially the Escalades, Hummers, Denalis, etc.

I can complain. I got the car by luck. I can't afford like some others here to have a Porsche,Merc, a BMW also in the same garage. Ouch. My tooth hurts. Haha. Inside joke.
But I was hoping to keep in the low 20s. I would've bought the "H" series, but at 10k more I didn't think it was worth loosing 1/2 my trunk and getting what maybe a gas saving of a few 100 per year. I think it would've taken me 10 years just to catch up to the price difference.

based on his driving, you do 4 x 2 x 5 days, then 15 x 2 2 days = 100 miles per week, so 450 miles a month or 5200 miles or so a year. THERE IS NO WAY a hybrid GS will save him money, considering the cost differential in ownership.
I forgot to add the miles he racks up in trips to Lexus though....J/K

Oh but if I COULD get the 450h I would. If the price wasn't in the equation, I probably would've convinced the wife to get the H. My kids are 3-5, now 4-6. So I don't need the stroller as much as I used to.
Haha. Yeah. Every one time I goto Lexus, they'll have me come back two more times. lol. Just kidding. I hope. We'll see what happens next time. hehe

I agree with SS,
