Apples and Oranges - how can you compare a 4 door sedan with a 2 door convertible ? Are you married, have kids, do you haul people in the backseat ??? Will you lease or buy, do you keep cars more than 4 yrs, do you like taking your car to the shop ??? Since you posted on CL, guess what 90% of the posts are going to tell you . . .

completely depends on what you are looking for? like many mention
2 vs 4 door
comfort vs harsher ride
vert vs sedan
daily commute ? weekend car?
what's your driving style?
primary car?
I am personally going from a 2door bmw to a 4 door lexus sedan, just because my priority change and style change.
everyone is different, both good car. good luck.

Have you test driven either? - If not, do so! That should settle it for you.
Yeah, I know the 2008 GS350 is not out yet and you can't test drive it, but the 2007 should be very close.
Just Do it!

I liked the styling of both cars too but for me it came down to a number of factors.
Number one, the GS350 was much more comfortable for carrying passengers. I don't often carry 4 people in my car but when I do, it's convenient that they each have their own doors and reasonable comfort. The back seat on the 335 was way too cramped for my taste.
Number two, I've had convertibles in the past and I really didn't put the top down as often as I thought I would - especially after the "newness" wore off. Whether it was because it got too hot sitting under the sun in traffic or because it was too cold outside, I just didn't tend to use it much.
I also considered the fact that I have a motorcycle so I go ride the bike when I want to feel the wind...either that or just put the sunroof open on my GS.

just make sure you don't keep the BWM after the free service/maint. expires. not good. Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking BMW's I have owned some before, they just aren't know for longevity.
Both will be fun cars though. what do you need in a car, besides the convertible?
lexus will last for 200K if you take care of it.

Have you owned a convertible before? Like others mentioned, one type of car doesn't replace other type of car. If you have more then 2 family members and this is going to be your only/primary car then I suggest getting the GS.
If you are single or newly wed not planning to have a kid soon or have another practical car like 4 door sedan, SUV or VAN then get a convertible and enjoy. I love driving a convertible. I used to own a Mazda miata for 4 years and it was a blast. But I am in pacific northwest where sun is not too hot, just perfect for a top down driving but in CA, convertible might not be a good idea contrary to most belief. During hottest summer month, under direct sunlight, I couldn't put the top down.

Cold Air Intake.
Also, chipping the twin turbos will certainly decrease the reliability factor (more so than it is already). Rule #1 - never own a german car outside of warranty.
PS - Yang, please note that I'm behaving myself
