Question Is it worth it to buy a GS ?

Hi ,
I'm a huge fan of the GS since it came out in 2006 , and I'm willing to buy my first car ..
I've been waiting for the new face-lifted GS for ages, and I'm not that impressed tbh ..
We already have a 2000 GS300 and a 2006 LS430 , so is it worth it to buy a third Lexus ?
Coz I'm afraid that i'll get bored from it in a short time, since its almost identical to the LS (in interior features)

So what do you think, should I get it or should I consider something else ?

If you're not tickled by the new GS then look for something else. Consider what your driving style is along with your general expectations and find a car that suits you.

I know what you're talking about. I had a 2001 GS300, have an RX400h, and thought I might get bored with the Lexus and searched around for alternatives. I test drove the MB E550, nice, very sporty, a little too tight suspension. BMW was even tighter, rock hard seats. Audi was nice, didn't get to drive it. Volvo was horrible.

So after all the choices, I still came back to Lexus and picked up my GS 450h. Power, comfort, ability to switch from comfort to sport suspension, all the bells & whistles, BT feature is awesome, and sales/service is great.

But that's just my $.02. Check out all the other cars, like I did, then decide which one catches your eye. Good Luck!

the decision is yours to make;
ask yourself - what are your driving habits ?? r u looking for a sports sedan or "sporty sedan" ?? ride quality ?? aesthetic presentation ?? etc.
what is your budget ??
good luck with your purchase....

maybe get the GS450h if you can afford it with the AAAS suspension. It will run you abouy 66K without taxes or delivery or tags. By the time it's all said and done it will be about 74K. Or wait for the 460 which should have it as well.
The GS460, is well nothing special in my honest opinion, but the 450h, is a hybrid, and will still be faster than the upcoming 460.
The 450h is a wonderful car, but I get bored fast. I have been looking at the RS4 the RS6(if it ever gets here to the USA) as well as others and I have only had my 450h for about 1 year so far.
But all in all, it's a wonderful car and I still get "the looks" like "wow"...

I think he's saying that he's not impressed by the small changes for MY08.

Is it worth it? Probably yes if you're to replace your 2GS. Otherwise no. Unless you really need a 3rd sedan. I'd probably look at GX or other SUVs?

I love my GS but I may get bored with it after two or three years so I leased it. By the time my lease ends, a new GS should be rolling out (or a new lexus that has never been out).

Wow, that's a little high. I just picked up my MY07 for 62k out-the-door. Fully loaded with ****, ML, the works. The only option is doesn't have is the PCS. But then again, it could be because they are making room for the MY08s

Is it worth it to buy a luxury car? Financially speaking, no way.

It's just about the worst investment you can make other than .COM stocks
in the early 2000's...

Buying any car as an investment is "suicide" unless you're talking a 1935 Bugatti. All modern cars will only depreciate in time, there won't be any "classic" car from the modern car generation that will appreciate in time.

So, if you buy a expensive car, then it's an even worse investment.

I'm buying the GS to "spoil" myself, not for investment or common sense. If I had common sense, I'd buy a Hyundai Genesis or something.. hey wait, that's an idea...

Thanks guys for your opinions ..
The GS prices here are 49,516$ for the 300 and 55,405$ for the 430, all fully loaded with NAV and Mark Levinson ..
We don't get the 450h coz simply the premium gas is by 0.66$ per gal. :P
I asked about the Audi Q7 , the cheapest one was by 61,500$ !! and the BMW X5 was by 65,500$ also for the cheapest one ..
So I guess i'll just stick to the japanese

the Q7 is nice, but nothing special with luxury options.
The X5, well better get rid of it when the main program expires.
