i continuously get 18mpg but i drive this ***** like a bat outta hell!!! I usually am easy on the foot for the first couple days cuz im trying to limit the fuel usage, but then its like i forget about it and the lead foot takes over until the tank is empty!!

I have a bit of an issue with speed..........

Oh goodies, I am not the only with the problem!!!

Overall, my average is between 22-24 MPG (70city/30highway).

Cruising from Dallas to OK City at 80MPH -->average 28MPG
Cruising back from OK City at 110-120MPH --> average 25MPG

Overall, I am happy with the MPG!!!

This is interesting indeed. I see that many GS350 owners are getting better mpg than I do on my IS (22 avg, 75/25 hi/city). The GS is at least 200lb heavier and larger overall - I wonder if it's the gearing . . .

Could be the gearing, but it could also be incremental engine improvements that occur every model year. You have a 2006 MY IS, while the GS only got the 3.5L engine for the 2007 model year. Toyota could have made small improvements or adjustments to the engine or ECU for improved fuel economy, or it could just be the gearing like you said.

I have noticed on the boards that 07 IS owners are getting a bit better mpg on average than 06 owners, which adds to the idea that Toyota made some small improvements.

GS430....on a 50/50 split, I'm getting 21-23mpg...on highway trips i have aver 23-24 with a high of 25.2mpg. I use primarily 89octane and have a K&N air filter in...typically drive 10-15mpg over speed limit in any range
