Default Nav bypass issue - Something i did not expect !

I have noticed something goofy....I did the nav bypass / BT bypass months ago, with a switch. here is the thing, driving along,I hit destination button, the 6 large icons pop up, only emergency is enabled if you have not touched the switch, flip the switch and go into address (this disables vss input to nav / enabling addrss entry) and keep driving. Within 1-2 minutes, key pad disables again, you can flip the switch back and forth to allow another few minutes. there must be some redundancy, or the satellite input somehow overrides the lack of VSS, is this only me or has anyone else noticed this. I tested this a few times and it happens this way over and over....why ??? is it my switch somehow allows current through somehow ?? maybe my solder connections are touching (re-enabling signal)

Yep, as soon as the satellite signal is calculated to determine your new location, the navigation locks out again.

I believe the interval is somewhere between a minute or two if you want to time it.

+1, normal for the hack. Once the car determines that you are actually moving via sat signal, it will lock you out.

^ Since you have a '06, can't you just do the override sequence ? What add'l benefits do you get by splicing in a switch ???

Hello all:

I have a 2006 GS300 with NAV, without ML. I believe it's one of the very first ones produced for model year 2006 (in April 2005). I ejected the (North America) NAV DVD; at the bottom, next to the 9 green dots (arranged 3x3) it has a bunch of of number sequences, and on the third line says "DATA ver.04.2".

I want to do the BT bypass. To be sure ... what generation and version of NAV do I have ? ( I have seen both versions 5.1 and v6.1 mentioned as 5th generation in the forums. Is this a 4th generation ? And BTW, the Menu/Volume Override for the NAV does work. ) And therefore, what instructions would apply ?

Thanks.

You have Gen 4....ver 4.2 refers to the data map version, latest is 7.1....you need to buy Gen 4 ver 7.1 .....if you want newer maps....

Thanks, EyeKutr.
So ... this is a Gen 4 system. Will the instructions "Bluetooth Phone Dial-Out Bypass - For Non-Nav 06 GS" work ( https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=249372 purple wire #14 on K46) ?
( And I would add the switch to avoid the "stutter" problem on my NAV. )
Out of curiosity when (what model year and/or 2006 model production month ? ) did GS change to Gen 5 ?

No one can help you because we can't see what you did. You obviously mis wired something. You are going to have to Triple Check all of your wiring with the instructions posted on this website. You can find it, you just have to be detailed and take your time.
