XM stopping sporadically
Anybody else have this problem, or can guess what the problem is? We have built-in XM in a new 2007 GS350. Twice since we've had the car (a week and a half), the XM has simply stopped working while driving, or I should say the audio portion stopped working -- the station information and what should have been playing showed on the screen, so obviously it was getting some kind of signal. In both cases, we were driving south on the freeway - no reason it should not have worked. Tonight it came back on when we turned the car off and then on again. The first time it happened, it came back on in our driveway, but we can't remember whether we turned the car off and on that time. Anybody have any idea what might be the problem? (Oh, AM and FM radio worked fine)

Actually, I had this happen once on a roadtrip last summer. I was driving down the road listening to FM and I switched to XM and could not get any audio. I wa also receiving the signal, because songs were changing. When I filled up with gas and shut the car off and turned it on again, it all came back.
I do not think it is a loose connection. I am guessing that it is a quirk of the XM radio. I believe that shutting off the car and restarting it will 'reset' it.
Hey! - it's relatively new technology; remember when you had to bang on the side of the TV to get it work?

If this only happens to me once a year and turning off the car and restarting it, corrects the problem; It's not really a problem!

It wouldn't be a big deal if it only happened once a year, but it's already happened twice in a week and a half
The portable device we have is mostly used in the car -- the car cradle for it is permanently connected.

Lead Lap
I've never had a problem w/ the OEM kit I installed in our GS350. Cut-throat is right, check the connections to the amp and the lead from the control box in the trunk. As I recall, the connection to the amp gets awfully tight w/ all the harness connection bends etc. to make sure it sits below the liner. Here is a link to the install instructions...
GS350 XM Radio Install
If the dealer or if it was port installed, definitely take it back and have them look at it. Ours has been in for 6 + months and never once cut out.

I'm not sure if it was port- or dealer-installed, but I know it wasn't installed by us! We'll check the connections this weekend. Thanks.
