Default changing to winter tires

Should I buy a new wheel possibly different size with a new winter tire,
or just a new tire and put it on my stock wheel?

What would be the best winter tire availiable?blizztec (sp)?

I am thinking I will just buy the narrow-est tire that will fit on my stock wheel, so save the $$$, and get a great winter tire and stud it.

Thoughts?

Jace....I'd definately utilize your stock wheels...save some $$$. Spend the money on a good piece of rubber.

My BAD....Jace7/ thought it was Jokie. I was thinking of Jokies ride. Gotta get my J's right!! My bad Modeler and thanks for the correction Yang...appreciate it.

What I did when I wanted to get a set of winter tires for my previous car was go to E-bay Motors and find a set of OEM alloy wheels for my model, then buy winter tires from TireRack. Given that the 450h OEMs are very hard to find, I'd get the GS350 wheels instead.

BKE420's advice is not very practical. Having to mount and remount regular and winter tires at the end of every season is a pain in the butt, expensive, and exposes your wheels to the risk of damage by the tire shop.

Modeler...it was my understanding Jace was going to have a set of "winter tires" just for winter conditions. So my thought was....why buy a new set of wheels when you already have the stock 17' or 18's sitting in the garage. Just buy a good set of winter tires/mount 'em...call it a day. I wasn't implying that Jace take the winter tires off the stock wheels every season...WHY?? Just leave 'em on as your winter set...What's Jace gonna do with the stock wheels in the summer? How many sets of wheels does one need in their garage? Me personally...once I put on my 19's...I could care less about my stock wheels...rare or not. Plus they're lame 17's.

He is riding on stock wheels.

I'd say get a set of OEM wheels and wrap them in winter tires. But then do u want to get a second set of TPMS?
