Whats your opinion?
If you guys were planning on keeping your GS for 6 or 7 years but only had a budget of around 620 a month, would you lease it first and then finance the rest when the least is up to keep the payment around 620. This would require some money down of course or would you just finance one used, maybe an 06300 and just finance that one for 5 or 6 years. I guess what i'm getting at is, is it worth the risk to finance it used, even if its only a year or two old or do you think it better to keep it longer and lease and buyout it out so you are the only one to ever drive it? I was just curious where people stand.

But to answer your question, it's generally more expensive to lease and then "buy out" the lease with a loan. And...I wouldn't lease or own any car that is out of warranty (extended or otherwise). We all know the odds are low the car will have any significant mechanical problems if properly maintained for 200,000+ miles. But electronically...too many hi-tech components that are expensive to replace (key word: REPLACE and not repair) to drive this car out of warranty.

thanks for the opinion Bushwack, i can afford around $620 and probably more, but I don't see myself paying around $700 a month for a GS, I think that it is way too high for that car. You do raise an interesting point as far as the technology in the car and the cost of replacement. So i guess you would definitely lease the car, if you don't mind me asking, if you did lease, what is your payment like a month?

With my next car, I will probably start leasing. I have always purchased, but recently have thought..... lease/rent what depreciates (cars), unless collectors, and purchase what appreciates (home).
Any thoughts on this?
Hey, mikedozz, have you considered other cars, that might be more in your price range, that you wouldn't feel you were giving most of your money, just to a car?
There are a ton out there that are sooo very nice, but not as expensive.

I know what you mean Jace7, i think to myself sometimes, its just a car, its just that i have been obsessed with this car when the second gen hit in 1998 and i was in highschool, i would tell meyself that i would get this car even if it meant used, two leases later, i have got pontiacs instead, thats why I think maybe just get it used at first and when i can afford to lease or buy a new one, then i will. I guess that new car smell always gets me. Then i think to myself that these high end cars like the GS keep the same style for around 7 years, so a 06 GS300 would still feel new for at least the next 4 years. We'll see, my lease is up in March.

mikedozz, i think your best bet is to lease the car for 48/12k wit atleast 3,000 -4,000 dollars at start and you will be at your payments brother get your 3GS new you never know what the last driver did to the car...

Honestly it depends on your credit...If you have A1 credit Lexus will put you in a CPO for 3.9% and lets say you get a great deal, lo miles, and fully loaded for an OTL price of 40K if you put down 5k you still paying 645 or so over 60 months...
So alotta times it's not about what you can afford NOW but what you have paid for in the past...Just my .02
