golalakers - did you get lease figures for a 48 mo lease ? The residual will differ, but I wonder if the MF is the same ? FWIW - I'm not a fan of MSD, if your car is totaled or stolen, you won't get all the MSDs back . . .

if i remember why, when i inquire, the money factor was the same for 36 and 48 months. residual was lower and the overall payment was less (around 40-50 bucks, but it varies of course)
and you need to read more about MSD..... it's DEPOSIT, not DOWN PAYMENT...... you get all your money back regardless..... it's not money to reduce your cap cost, it's money to reduce your rate
i never put money on down payment for a lease

Does anyone know the Residual value on a 2007 for a 24 or 36 month lease?
Lexus still has a lot of unsold 2007 inventory and really wants to move it.
Are the changes for 2008 worth $2000? $3000? I have seen the cars side by side and the update is mild. The interior changes seem small as well. The biggest interior change seems to be the NAV legal button (the '08 no longer has one) and the silver piece on the seat. Also, the Ipod adapter is better now. Anything else?
Should I go for a 2007 when the 2008 seems like a more refined car?

Read the fine print. If totaled or stolen, LFS can take the MSDs. You don't have to take my word, ask a LFS person . . .

show me the fine print? i'd like to read more. maybe they have changed it, but last time i read it that's one of the difference with down payment. if this is the new, then it's definitely one down side. and you said can, not will, does that mean it's case by case? that would be different from down payment too

^ Don't get me wrong, MSDs work 95% of the time. If you return your car in acceptable condition, you get them back. But remember, if totaled or stolen, there is no car to return, so if the lease is upside down, sec deposits are taken first before gap insurance. Again this may never happen to you, but it's something to think twice about. . .

The 51% residual for GS350 is bull crap GX470 has 56% residual eventhough it is a 6 year old design. Maybe this car has the worst residual value in lexus lineup. MB E350 has a special lease for $389 for 24 months with 10K miles per year and $1800 ( approx ) at signing. It is very subsidized lease. The vehicle price is 54K.

When you equip the Mercedes like the Lexus the E350 is a $62,000 car while the Lexus is $52,000. What do you get for your extra 10 grand? A slower car with less HP that has a higher residual (which means you CAN'T buy the car at the end of the lease). The Mercedes at $61,000 has a higher lease payment by about $100.
The Lexus is the MOST car for the money out there except for the Honda Accord.

^ I believe that is the point - no one in their right mind wants to own a german car out of warranty, so folks just lease their *uber* cars for 3 yrs, turn them back in and sign up for another uber lease. Only Lexus leasers would *consider* buying the car when the lease is up . . .
