Looks like you lose the "cold air" connection that the factory had in place. I'm betting the filter is a less restrictive than the factory version though. Any way to combine the cold air with the high flow filter and tubing and get the best of both worlds?

if you look at the second pic, you will see that the factory section in the middle feeds cold air directly onto the intake, so it works perfectly.

performance certainly feels up, mpg is still to early to tell. it was installed 5 hours ago.

but the sound oh my oh my, the sound!!!

Here is mine but in black powder coat finish with the stock engine cover in place. I felt a little increase in power mostly at top end.

has anyone used heat insulation around the intake pipe to keep it cool

It's NOT going to make Much difference one way or another as far as Power/Torque!

you will lose power due to heat entering in....then it will mess with your fuel curve ...good luck
