The thing that is so weird about the 8AT that I learned this summer with the LS, is that the gears are so short and the tranny rows through them so quickly that it's almost hard to get or enjoy any sort of a stereotypical "V8 growl". The gears fly by so quickly that it almost sounds like...dare I say it...a 4cylinder? You're at redline so fast, and then its right into the next gear, redline, snap into the next gear and it all just happens so quickly that its hard to make the thing really open up acoustically.
