i don't have any manuals and this thing clicks loud enough to hear it in the car at idle. It's kinda bothering me how loud this car clicks.
The one two three side, or passenger side, clicks louder than the four five six side.
Are the tops of these engines normally noisy? I hesitate to say it, but this sounds almost like a 'solid lifter car'
I'm new at this car sorry if this has been talked about before, but could someone point me in a direction if this isn't normal?
I wouldn't mind knowing that this thing is either
thanks
1200 miles on it

Sounds right, normal. I was shocked when I heard it too, thought I broke or messed up something on my car from tearing out. Still don't have over 500 miles on my car yet. ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I still love my car. Its not the same when I get into a RX300, G35, Corolla, Civic, etc. Feels great.

The ticking noise is a characteristic of Toyota's Direct Injection system. Unfortunately we get the sound, but this technology is what yields us great horsepower without compromising fuel economy.

Yup, that's completely normal for direct injection. It's the price you pay for squeezing 303hp out of a NA 3.5l V6 while getting 29/21 mpg and still remain factory stock . . .

I believe you are correct that the noise is within specification for a direct injection engine. Over at the Cadillac CTS forums there has been commentary on the DI technology. My wife has an Audi Q7 with a 3.6 liter DI engine. I will have to listen closely

From what I was told, there is more than 1000 psi being pushed through the injectors.
