Yeah mp3 and wma only on 07's and up. I wish it was easy to put in an aftermarket stereo so there was at least some kind of option to play mp3 cds in the 06'.

Can someone please enlighten me on what an Mp3 CD is? I mean I am very computer literate and know what a Mp3 is, how 2 burn a CD, and such but what is the problem with the ML stereo. I have ML and I burn CDs all the time and they work flawlessly on my system, I like burned CDs more because the album name and track title comes up, unlike store bought albums. So please what am I missing I thought the '07 and up just open up the playlist on Mp3 CDs...

its Data cd full of mp3's :-).

So basically you have 700 MB to store mp3's, instead of 80 minutes of music CD.

The best workaround is to get Vaistech's ipod connection and Ipod...

Whoa! I was going to ask a question today about store-bought CDs and this might have answered it. Are you kidding me - the "info" (CD name, track list) don't show on store-bought discs? Why the heck not? You have to memorize what's in the six CD slots

Well, that's as good a reason as any not to buy "store-bought" CDs -- the record companies lament the downturn in the industry, well, they might try keeping up with the times. I don't want to be guessing! (FWIW, when I got home, I tried a CD full of MP3s and it worked, so I can confirm its the CDs and not the car).

I first heard a CD around 1987 I think - that's 20 years ago. Basically NOTHING has changed with the format.

BUT, on cars like the Lexus LS and I think the new Cadillacs, they have built in the 'grace note' database which can determine from the number and lengths of the tracks which CD it is and still display the album/artist/track info.

Unfortunately the GS doesn't have this feature.
