The handle for GS is shared by alot of Toyota and lexus models, namely Camry, 4Runner/GX470, Prius, Avalon etc.

The cool things is that 2008 Avalon limited has chrome door handle for the first time with the smart access button. I believe this is fits directly on our GS but I can't comfirm it as external design might be same but internal design may not. And it won't be cheap.
But I want chrome handle and sticking aftermarket chrome cover on doesn't work for me so I am going to try this actually...

I do not like chrome on anything at all, it make them looked cheesy (IMO anyway).

I only wish Lexus would come out with sport package like BMW, so we have the option to black out all of chrome!!!

The 3GS have too much chrome IMO already. I would like to see more of a black out finish or maybe that brushed nickel trim that Audi uses.

my personal conclusion

chrome is definitely a warm weather, west coast style

we chrome out a lot of things out here.....i guess its all the sun we get

out east, you don't see too much chrome........it gets too cold to look too flashy

west up!

I voted nay but actually, I don't think it's so bad. The GS already has chrome-like trim around the window and bottom of the doors. I say go for it. It's not for everyone but it doesn't have to be.

Chrome handles look cheap. Lexus switch to chrome door handles on the 08 RX and GS to save money.

i think in my opinion that black gs looks perfect with the chrome door handles but the chrome pillars KILL IT!!!! I HATE CHROME PILLARS ON ANY CAR!!! my .02.

You mean 08 RX and GX not GS.
I believe chrome handles cost more. It's much involved steps trying to chrome plate a plastic then just paint it.
Top of the line LS460/600h have chrome handles as well as new LX570.
Toyota only applys chrome handles on top of the line 08 Avalon limited trim only. Rest of trims get painted handle.

The point is, Lexus/Toyota applys chrome handles on luxury models only.
Chrome does not mean "Cheap". Sporty models like GS and IS get painted one.

So, Although I like chrome handles, GS being a sporty model, painted handle fits better.

However, the chrome has been making a big comeback lately especially the chrome door handle like we all witnessed on 08 RX and GX which all have been getting painted handles for years untill now. I could almost bet that GS will have chrome handles on next generation and even next minor face lift if there will be one on current generation.

So whether you like it or not, it's coming so get used to it.
