Lightbulb Discovered Audio Controls You May Not Know About

In the process of trying to figure out how to FF and reverse through a track on a CD, I found out that you hold down the track button on the dash. You probably have all figured out that one already.

But this lead me to wondering if I held down the track button equivalent on the steering wheel if it would have the same effect, but it doesn't.

Instead holding down the up and down button on the steering wheel changes to the next or previous CD. And, if you are on the radio, holding down the same buttons on the steering wheel allows you to tune the radio up and down digitially, while briefly pressing the buttons cause the radio to go to the next or the previous stored station.

Bet some/many of you didn't know all of that yet.

Merry Christmas!

Didn't know about the function of holding the steering wheel buttons down. Thanks.

It's the same function on all the other Lexus models with steering wheel controls. The same goes for those Toyota and Scion models with steering wheel audio controls as well.

The owners manual does state all of the functions in detail.

I'm betting that most people don't have the time to read all of the voluminous manual. And I'm betting that most English speakers haven't gotten around to reading all of the dictionary yet.

The beauty of Toyota/Lexus ergonomics and controls. They are pretty intuitive as it doesn't really take much time to figure out many of the functions.

For example, the front sunvisors. Pull them out and slide them back and they shield you from the sun at different angles.

Aren't sunvisors pretty much the same regardless of the car brand???

Not all sunvisors have pull out visor extensions or integrated ones.

using the steering wheel buttons up and down lets you skip tracks on a CD and not scan foward or reverse on CD.

If you hold the up or down button during CD/DVD mode, after the audible beep, it will switch to the next disc on the changer. If you simply press and let go either up or down, it will switch to the next track on the cd.

Good to know. Thanks. Like many others, I haven't read every page in the manual.
