Default Steering wheel scratches

I am bummed. My rings have put scratches on my wood steering wheels. Does anyone know how to get them out? I'm sure a new one costs in the neighborhood of 1K. I'd hate to buy one but I'm too picky to not do something.

If not scratches, then you have to also deal with the sun ruining the wood too.

Wood steering wheels are not my cup of tea. I would wrap the whole thing in leather.

none of the wood on my cars have had problems over the years. it's about maintenance. on the other side i have seen leather steering wheel crack like hell after just 3 years of ownership....

reggie, are those bad scratches? you can feel them with your nails? long? or they are more like little "dings". if they are dings, it's probably hard, if it's scratches, you can try to use some polish (car polish can do too) to take them out?

How deep of a scratch are we talking about? If it's just minor swirls and stuff, you can use plastic polish and polish it out.

I saw and ding in mine as well. Its minor, but it sucks cause its not 2 months old yet. I can live with it.

I have one or two dents on the wood part of the wheel. It's almost hard to avoid coming in and out of the car.

Have you tried polishing it out? The wood seems like there's a finish over it that you can polish it. Unless the scratches are deep into the wood.

Yes, I can feel the scratches with my nail. There's like 10 of them. What shocks me is I don't remember doing it. They weren't there 2 days ago. I feel like someone has a spare key and drove my car while I was asleep. The ring I wore yesterday, I checked it out....it does have a rough spot that could have done it. I just don't know how I could have not noticed.

Oh well. What type of polish are you guys talking about that could hide the marks?

here was my solution to both a thicker sterring wheel and a nicer leather feel, not to mention when I get rid of this car, I will have zero percent fade and no scratches.
Plus my hands love the leather and wider feel.
I hate wood.

I've used that type of cover on every car except this one. I love this black wood steering wheel so much but I'll cover it if I have to.

eh... I believe if you paid for something, you might as well use it. By covering it up... well that sucks. Things are made to use and they do wear down overtime, but thats when you get a new one or replace it.
