This is off topic but when you replaced the cabin filter, did you replace it with part # 87139-07010 or did you use 87139-YZZ08.

It seems that Toyota changed the filter, sewell still has the 07010 listed but IronToad has YZZ08. Normally, it wouldn't matter if they changed it but I'm wondering if the change is only for Toyota cars and not Lexus. I just bought the YZZ08 since I had a coupon from the local Toyota dealer, the filter is the same as the recent Avalon, they gave me YZZ08 and I confirmed that it's the replacement for 07010. But the new YZZ08 filter is thinner, has less pleats, more see through than the old filter. It looks cheaper as if they did it to cut costs. If nobody knows maybe I'll post some pics of both filters side by side for everyone to compare.

@wingster: it was not closed but rather stucked/jammed and I saw acorns all over the place. Now, I'm 100% sure that I had it switched to recirc mode, just those suckers were jamming the cover door (still have no idea how, but that's what the tech explained to me). My mistake was to go ahead and try to open it, while I should of just waited and bring it to dealership to take care of it. BUT still, any damage or any work to take the whole thing apart to clean it would still not be covered under warranty. Taking to another dealership wouldn't make sense since there are still acorns stuck inside, beside here in Central Jersey we have one dealership owning two locations and anybody else will be hours away of driving.

I already filed it with insurance. Dealership will take it apart and insurance will document and take pictures of everything. If I get a hold of those, will post it here

Still the mystery how they get in there? I thought any air path leading to AC filter would have been covered with some kind of metal mesh from outside?

Oh, and regarding the replacement filter, it was probably an older part, and it looked exactly the same as original.

I was told once that a mouse can fit through a hole as small as it's head.

Off topic a bit but recently we had a rat in the garage and I knew it was under a cabinet, so i lined up these huge boxes I had around the cabinet ...LOL. I think I should have had a better game plan, but anyways, I think i was gonna poke at the bottom of the cabinet and when it came out maybe I would hit it with the broom or something...long story short, i scared it out, it made a b line for a spot where the two boxes met and squeezed thru what i thought was a crack maybe a dime could barely fit thru, betweeen my legs and out the garage door into the bushes....LOL

alex,

Call as little attention to it as possible among your neighbors, just in case it is an endangered species of critter and they rope off your car as a sanctuary for it as a result of you calling attention to it

There should be some mesh on fresh air intake port as my MB had to prevent a critter from doing this.

Old timer remedy....I don't remember which, spearmint or peppermint oil, food grade oil that is like candy makers use, not artificial, but one of those flavors of oil rodents of all kinds HATE with a passion to continuously smell and they scatter and move on.

A little, like pin drop size, goes along way. Put on a small dab on small piece of paper in front of the air filter or on the filter material itself and that critter or those critters will hit the dusty trail.

Works in attics, using more than a pin drop amount for squirrels and other beasts as well.
