Hi,

long time reader, first time poster. I have a 2008 GS350 (black saphire/cashmere. Nav/ML) and so far love it. Best features IMHO: adaptive cruise control, engine power/torque, navigation. most nagging 'features': no 12v outlet in trunk, front seats not 'sporty' enough but very comfortable and, of course, nav blackout while driving.

Got a couple of questions about the ML sound system:

I am listening to MP3 CDs. Is there a chance to assign a name/title to a CD? When I choose a CD I have 3 items called CD, that does not really help. Looks like the CD_TITLE entered while burning is not used, maybe a chance to change that?

When listening to mix-cds (again mp3) there is a nasty 1-2 sec gap between every track. while this is no problem when listening to 'normal' CDs it is quite irritating listening to songs mixed into each other. Is this just the way it is with MP3 cds or can there be something done?

ok, thanks

This all depends on how you burn your CD not your CD player. When you burn a MP3 CD, you can name the CD and create folders, name them and group different songs and your ML/nonML CD player will display folders and CD name on the display and obvisouly it will let you browse through folders on that CD via LCD touch screen.

1-2 sec gap is also done/fixed in CD burner program on your PC. Not sure what you are using but read the manual. If this doen't happen if you play the same CD in other CD player I am not sure what the problem is.

Hm, not sure about that. You would be right it it were Audio CDs, but with MP3 CDs its 'just' single files on the disc and not 'tracks' and AFAIK there is not a way of specifying a gap between the files.

thanks so far

I think youre right about this. At first I thought the same about the audio CD and the 2 sec gap. But its different with MP3 CDs. It must just be a process time for the CD player, that it needs 2 secs to go to the next file.

Hi Wolf! Welcome to CL and the 3GS family.

to answer your questions, it definitely depends on the CD burning program you have. I like to use Nero Burning Rom to burn my CDs and MP3/WMA cd's. It allows you to title the name of the song, artist and album it came from.
