Default GS460 Question

I'm getting tired of driving the SUV and I will be going to test ride the GS460 on Monday. Has Lexus allowed the VDIM to be turned off? I thought I read that somewhere. Maybe it was for the IS?
Also does the lawyer disclaimer disappear after a few seconds on the nav system for the 08 models?
While I'm at the dealer, I might also try out the IS350.

You can't turn off VIDM but in the 2007 and 2008's you can turn off the Trac/VSC via a switch.

Hope that helps!!!!

Thanks, it does. I read some test reports on the GS when it first came out and it said the Traction/VSC was so intrusive, it affected their track times. Not that I intend to ever take the car to the track

In the 2 days of ownership on the GS, I realized it is not quite a "performance" vehicle. Initially not being able to turn off VDIM, was certainly a turn off, but I got over it. It's really a nice lux car with some performance aspects to it.

If I'm not mistaken, starting with the 2007 models, you can deactivate VDIM with a button where with the 2006 models, you could also deactivate VDIM but you had to do a 40 step dance to do so.

Actually it's the VSC/TRAC defeat, not VDIM defeat. The GS350 does not have VDIM hence it's the VSC/TRAC defeat. The operation to defeat it is to hold the TRAC button down for 3 seconds and both VSC and TRAC lights will appear on the dash. This is a feature available on the 07 and newer models.

The disclaimer goes away after a few seconds. Don't have to press "I Agree".

4.push handbrake n release 2nd time
5. hit the brake 2 times
6. push handbrake n release 1st time

I used to think this too, but the 2008 GS brochure states that VDIM is now standard across all the models, including the GS350 . . .

Does that last one turn itself back on after you turn off the car?

Yeah that's interesting new for the 2008 model GS. It does state it as you said...

Drive Wheels -Rear, with standard Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management
(VDIM)4 (GS 460, GS 350 RWD)
Full-time all-wheel drive, with standard Vehicle Dynamics Integrated
Management (VDIM)4 (GS 350 AWD)

But doing the VSC/TRAC defeat is not a VDIM off function.

i just compared with the 07 brochure, indeed it seems like 08 gs350 has vdim now

but still though, 08 gs350 doesn't have ECB and VGRS, which vdim supposed to control
