I'll passed on the 10+ years old technology of GS430's engine...
Wouldn't this be an advantage though of the 430 with the V8 engine - being that its tried and proven for all of those years? I love em both, but this was one of my thoughts (but please set me straight)

proven is one thing, old technology is another. the 430 engine is basically here since 98 (400 back then, 01 changed slightly to 430). the engine doesn't produce the same kind of power or gas mileage as the new v8 by lexus (or similarly the v6)
Don't put too much into resale value. Cars are advancing so quickly that resale value should have little consideration ina purchase (something I wouldn't have said 20 years ago).
Go with the GS430 (2006) if you will keep the car longer then 7..8 years. But no matter how you choose (and if I was to consider resale value), with a new model 2 years away, doesn't make much a difference. Ask anyone trying to sell a previous generation GS. Very few out there want to bite on an ol' horse.
Would the new body style really be in 2 years or is 3gen going to run as long as the 2Gen ?
Now that i think of it, i think he means maybe a lil face-lift. The 1gen and 2gen ran for 6-7 years, i don't think Lexus will bring out the 4gen untill 2011-2012.
