GS350 AWD vs BMW 535xi
Before I pull the trigger on my new car i've been looking at all my options. Any sort of opinion on the two choices would be greaty appreciated. I've always loved BMW but in the end I think the GS would be my better choice but i'm not sure why lol. Can somone shed some light on the comparison of the 2 cars? I would assume GS is a little faster but the 5 would have better handling....I don't know what to do!!! HELP!

think bigger picture
5 series is totally changing their design for 2010...probably be out in the market 3rd quarter 09.....if you get a 2008, then in two years, it will look out-of-date.....equivalent to a 2004 model (aesthetically)
also, if you are planning on keeping this car for a few years, the maintenance on a beemer >>> lexus......i've had a couple 3 series before, and there is always something wrong with the car after the "warranty" runs out.......german parts aren't cheap either
finally, personally i think the GS design is one of the more sexier cars out there today......it's up there with the audi a5 and bmw 3 coupe
just my opinion

German parts cost the same as Lexus parts. It's all obscenely expensive nowadays.
With that twin turbo engine, the 535 might actually be the better performer. Not like either is a slug tho.
I'd still go with the GS cuz I think the 5 is ugly, BMW's awd is nothing great, and there's a ton more tech and luxury in the Lexus. I'm a former 3 series owner too and while I miss the handling (sorry, but the IS/GS and G35/37 do NOT have the same handling as a BMW), it's hard to call a BMW a "luxury" car.

having experience with bmw of all models for 7 years.. i can tell you straight up that Lexus parts cost WAYYYYYYYYY more than BMW.
quick examples on the top of my head
bmw m3 steering wheel full leather - $375 from dealer
lexus leather steering wheel that i just checked - almost $800
bmw m3 bumper - $350 , lexus bumper - who knows, probably over $1k
bmw m3 side mirrors - $460 including glasses, lexus side mirrors - like $750 each!!
BMW synthetic oil services at dealer - $75
Lexus REGULAR oil service at dealer - $120+
Agree with Codex, bmw 5 seriously is one of the ugliest model they have now, another reason why I left the BMW world, I just can't stand their designs anymore. Now that I switch over to lexus, don't think i'll ever go back
of course, Lexus's handling will never come close to BMW. PERIOD.

well.. leasing a bmw is lot more appealing than leasing a lexus.
the way I look at it is that Lexus is for long term keeping, liability...
BMW, drive it like it's stolen, all services are free even pads/rotors.
Return it at the end of the lease. No problem, no worries. Just ugly

o and btw..
535xi is faster than the GS350AWD
535 vs. GS350
5.5 vs 5.8 0-60
300hp/300 lb-tq vs. 303hp/274 lb-tq
and you live in Montreal where it's really cold, the cold will be at your advantage for the twin turbos.
in your particular case, I would go for the BMW.

LEASE is only way to go for European vehicles, especially for 2 B's (BMW and MB).
