Hello All. Well I used the search function which showed me to how succussfully backup my original disks, I always run backups so i dont scratch my originals. Anyways after much reading I decided to make a 5.1/7.1 map disk and see if I could get it to work on the Gen5 Nav which a few others have reported as working. I disconnected the left batter terminal for 5 minutes, replugggd and then when I got in the car it told me no nav disk, or operting system or soemthing like that. I threw in my hybrid disk figuring it would start to load but it seems to just be sitting there. The 3 top right buttons are not working so i cannot do a map eject and throw in my 7.1 either. Is there a way to get the disk out or am i doing something wrong?

On the blank screen where it tells you that there's no nav Disc and you must bring it back to the dealer, and some japanese writting. Use your finger and tap the upper right hand corner twice. Your disc should now eject.

If it doesnt work, try Tapping upper right corner once and bottom right corner once.

Hope you get that damm SOB hybrid disc out.

Worked like a charm.. Now what did I do wrong to not get the hybrid disk to work is the question now. I copied the entire 7.1 disk into a folder on my HD, then just replaced that 1 file. LexusGS3, did you ever get it to work? I mean alot of people with the new gen5 navs seem to be able to have gotten it to work, I really don't care about pressing some accept screen to have over-ride w/ new maps

Nope i never got a hybrid disc to work on my 08 GS350.

I have tried using the OEM original GEN5 5.1 and 6.1 version disc on my car and it wont load as well. I think lexus put a block on the newer 08 nav computer/ecu not to accept older firmware.

I think fewer people are trying the hybrid in lieu of wire hack or plug and play kit so harder to find examples. i know several people with Gen5 systems said they got 7.1 hybrid to work but I don't think any of them had 08s. Several of those posters had 07 ES and G models which i gather have Gen5 Navs. seems like Lexus might have made some sort of change in 08 Nav system that LexusGS3 discovered. they still call it Gen5 but must be different somehow.

Oh well I guess my only option now is going to be to get the nav override switch.
