Sad, indeed, but I'd say that, slowly but surely, the 2nd-generation Cadillac CTS is shaping up to be a worthy competitor in this segment.

IMO, build quality is not the same as reliability. When I mentioned build quality in prev posts, I am only referring to the quality of materials and the amount of engineering that is behind the parts in the car. Reliablity is a whole different issue and of course Japanese cars in general will be far more reliable than German cars.

Well, if built quality is bad meaning mech. parts are not put together right and fails later on, that a reliability issue.
