Default GS 430 Brake Rotors and Pads

I have a 2006 GS 430 and I need to replace the brake rotors and pads according to Lexus. The problem is this will be the second set of rotors and pads for this car. The first set was replaced at 15,207 miles and now at 37,900 miles they need replacing again. Is there an after market product I should consider instead of the OEM equipment? In advance, thank you for your response.

Yes, parking brake is done using a drum portion of the rear disc. It's like disc with enlarged "hat" secion that acts as a drum

Here is the picture of IS300 rear brake. As you can see, it's got small sized shoes behind the hub flange and you can see the rear caliper on left side.

But still, it's called disc or rotor as calling it drum misleads people thinking you are refering to old styles drum brake often used in stripped down eco cars and trucks as we witnessed here.

rominl you definetly know your stuff. In terms of having to replace the brakes that frq thats BS. There is a problem. Infiniti had to replace the brakes on all 03 g35 bec the brakes would go in 10-15k. They also agreed to reimburse anyone who already paid to have the brakes replaced so prematurly. I bought an aftermarket brake kit ( stock replacement not a big brake kit) and it lasted me 56k before the kit had to be replaced. I would suggest checking stoptech. They are high quality brakes that will be durable and give the car a sportier look bec the new rotors will be slotted or drilled, or slotted and drilled.

+2 Unless you are repeatedly mashing down on the brakes from high speeds, there is no reason why your brakes needed to be replaced at 37.9k miles let alone 15k miles. What did they tell as to why the pads and rotors need to be replaced?? IMO, you are being bent over a log and made to squeal like a pig - again!!!!

Looks like a corvette rear rotor setup for parking brake.
