Default Blue Instrument Gauge? GS 350?

Hi Guys,

I swear when I test drove the GS, the instrument gauge ( I think this is what it is called..where the odometer and all those gauges are) had a hint of blue. In my car, the gauge shines WHITE at night, but for some reason, I remember there being a hint of blue (kinda like the Acura TL). Additionally in the 2008 Lexus Model Guide (that came with my Lexus magazine today), the GS instrument cluster looks to have a hint of blue as well. Is there any way to change the color so that there is a hint of blue? I know in the drop down panel (to the left on the driver's side) with all the buttons e.g. trunk, gas, side mirror folding, there is a button to change the way the odometer looks with respect to the amount of sunlight, but I don't think this changes the color of the instrument gauge, right?

Any help is appreciate.

Cheers!!

On mine, the letters and writing are white, but the background does have a hint of blue...

there is no background light. that would be the various reflections from the back plate of the gauge?

Open the moonroof on a sunny day. The gauge cluster has electrochromatic glass. So if it's bright enough, the glass gets tinted automatically and gives it that blueish hue you're talking about.

Yeah, its supposed to be like those sunglasses that change color when in sunlight. I notice it turns slight blue when direct sunlight hit my instrument cluster.

I have a 08GS350. My instrument cluster writing is all white, and NO is has no blue tint/background as u have mentioned. Maybe your are seeing things or you are color blind.

I have the same car Lexus GS3. If the sun hits it just right you will notice a slight blue tint on the gauge covers.

The Electronic Chromatic Device (ECD) system is activated by a sensor located in the rear window which detects the amount of light being projected into the vehicle. At a certain level, the faces of the instrument panel gauges automatically lower their transparency level down to 30 percent, helping to reduce glare and provide optimum visibility. <-- this is why there is a tint at the gauge

i think the op is talking about this

again, white is a VERY VERY hard color to capture with camera, not to mention 100% of the pictures are post processed thus the actual color might not be as seen in pics.

the gauge is white, just how I like it.

^ That is one misleading pic from Lexus. I saw that exact pic and was going to get the ivory interior since I like the black dash/trim contrast (similar to the 2IS). In actual production, the ivory uses a dark brown dash/trim contrast, which I didn't care for. . .
