New GS350, A5 or G37 ?
#46
My friend just bought a G37 and i just picked up an 08 GS350, it is hard to compare the two directly, they are 2 totally different cars. The GS may not be as fast or nimble but it is a much nicer vehicle. And as far as price goes my GS350 with ML/NAV was only 3k more than his G37s with journey package.

Yes the GS 350 is a nicer vehicle than the G37, not sure about much nicer though.
I guess I am more of a coupe guy, even though I think the GS's are the best looking sedans out there. Unfortunately Lexus offers nothing in the way of a cool spacious coupe like the A5/S5 or even the G37 which is not so spacious but a little cooler than the SC430.
I am a little surprised on a Lexus forum the S5 is leading the GS350 in the voting. Maybe it's because of the newness in the S5 ? If I could pull it out I would get the CLS550 which I consider maybe the second best looking sedan....oooops "coupe" in Mercedes world.

Hey Mixman,
I have also always been a coupe guy and I too wish Lexus had a big body coupe, something to rival the CL Benz or 6-series BMW or even the smaller A5/S5.
My wife I are huge CLS Benz fans and would have bought one, but here in the North East, the mixture of snow and RWD is a bad combination and ofcourse as you mentioned, the CLS is a "coupe" by Mercedes' world standards and thus has the honor of being the only 4 door vehichle that MB offers in the states without 4-matic.
But the GS is by far the nicest "sedan" available and with the practicality of AWD or even the speed of the 460 engine, you cannot lose!

I have always wanted a CLS but that would blow the total car budget.......what would the wife drive ???
I want to get a Lexus as they are very reliable, but every time I get in a 350 I get deja vu. It seems like the same car. I don't know if I could drive practically the same car for 6 yrs. The only other Lexus I would consider would be an LS, but that is a little large for just me and a little too pricey......again I would blow the car budget. Who knows.... maybe I'll get an end of the year close out on a GS460 or maybe they will offer something new in the 2009 GS that I have to have ???

IMO, I think GS owners like coupes A LOT and the GS has very "coupe like" features in the exterior, thus the S5 is a natural choice.
EDIT
lol the Segway and G37 are tied!!!!

It shows how objective this forum is most times. Audi is a great brand and the S5 seems to be superb.

Yes true the GS is very coupe like which is why I like it so much.
Not much love for the G37 ? Well about as much love for it as the Segway. I think more people remember the G35 coupe and haven't really taken a look at how improved the G37 is. I am sure Lexus could do a better job if they decided to make a coupe like it though..... something a little more modern and fashionable than the SC430.

Ditch the house idea and stick with the GS350 and put your money in mods! Just kidding, real estate is a better investment (in TX anyway!) but definitely not as fun.
Coming from an Audi myself, I am not sure I would go back since switching to a GS and in contrast I am always looking at what my next Lex may be! Good luck.

I've always believe, if you're just leasing for a quick 3 year term, then lease what your heart wants. In the miles they allow, say 36K for the term, no manufacturer today should make a lemon that can't go 36K without issues, and if it does, it's under warranty anyway, so you're covered.
If I were leasing, I'd do the Audi (or better, BMW), but if I'm buying for long term to keep... no way I would get German. I'd stick with Lexus, then maybe Infiniti.

Trust me, I know the difference between the G35 (coupe) and the G37. I was in love with the G35, almost bought one several times, but instead, I just traded my friend who always seemed to want to drive my X5. Then in anticipation of the new G37, I figured I would just trade in on that...until I saw it. It is better looking, it is faster, it is a little more luxurious, but to me, and this is my opinion, it was not enough of a change for me, it was not as stunning, and is not that much faster, as it is heavier to go with the added horsepower. Plus, where I used to live in NY, it was a boy racer for every 18-22 to own, myself included.
The Audi and the Lexus give a more prestigious look. My co-worker has an S5, white on red seats, but still he constantly coments on how he likes the GS and says he does wish sometime he got it for more space. (I got my GS after he had his S5). So I say this to say, I would never get the same car twice, but this is the best of the choices, with the Audi second and the third place runner up is the G37.
