Is Acura RL competing with the GS or LS?

I had an 06 RL which I traded for my current GS. Although I never really liked the exterior stylilng of the RL (and the new 09 styling is awful)... the interiors are really impressive....and their list of standard features vs. price is attractive.

The RL's interior is nice but not Lexus nice. RL's sales numbers is way down, if this trend continues, you may not see another RL come off the production line in 10 years or so. What ever happened to Acura's flagship. Acura started out so nice with Legend, that car was solid and what a car for the money. There are still some Legends on the road here in New England, they were well built and the front end doesnt look like the star ship enterprise.

IMHO the RL should be rwd with awd as an option in order to truly be in the GS/E/5/A6 class. At least the base V6 would be in a lighter chassis and not seem so underpowered. Then a FI V6 or V8 needs to be added as an optional model (Type S?). Even if it was in a class to itself, what is the motivation to move up from the TL-S ??? Acura clearly missed the target on the 2RL. . .
