have you realized that Asian market lexus even have satellite TV built in? even bmw has tv from the factory, you really think US will ever get something like that?

*Alpine makes nav for honda/acura last time I checked, it is not honda/acura is more superior, it's because they chose a better partner.

Good God, Sorry I even chimed in. Nevermind.

yeah. there is a big difference in the gen4 capability in 06GS300 and the gen5 (better res as you say) in later models. The 06 GS is limited to mostly "go home" and "I'm hungry". I exaggerate to make the point. if you press the help button on your navi screen when you push the talk button, you can see the commands it should recognize. The gen5 system on later models inc our RX is much better in terms of address input by voice and dial bluetooth by number and name etc via voice.

Our experience has been that both systems have a pretty high miss rate on recognition but the gen5 system is more reliable and has much more capability.

Just out of the stealership.......Have a brand new nav disk installed...ver 6.1 and all the commands now working properly. I know that there a service bulletin out on it and I compared it the new disc inserted while at the dealership and YES the part numbers all match up the was they were supposed to.

Glad it got fixed. So you swapped dvd 6.1 for a new 6.1 rather than going from an earlier version (4 or 5) up to 6.1? If I understood that right, interesting that they fixed something later in the production run instead of waiting until they released 7.1 last fall. Whatever works.

Yes, that is what I did. Please even the Service Manager told me to save the $$$$ for the 7.1 update disc....since basically just takes away the dreaded I agree message, plus adds several streets....whoooopiiie-dooooooo!

The dealership did me right!

I just wanted to understand what you did. I jumped from 4.1 to 7.1 on my 06. For Gen4 systems 7.1 doesnt eliminate the I agree and didn't expect it to. And it's not for me to decide what was right for somebody else to do.
