I'll bring this up again being that more people has the 07-08 cars now. If your car is OFF and you open your trunk in a quiet place (just to make it easier) do you hear a electrical "short" sound? like a buzz? If you put your ear next to the ribbon cable that goes to the trunk lid, you can really hear it. Does anybody know what causes that? Btw, Lexus delear didn't know, and said if theres ever a problem it'll be covered.

there is a purge pump for the evaporative part of the fuel system. The owners manual states it.

i know exactly what sound you are talking about, i hear it every day. no big deal

opps, i didn't read the OP post completely, the sound I am referring isn't exactly from the trunk, it's just the general buzz/clicking noise from the car itself.

whlev- Its coming form the cable from the truck lid to the car body.
Eyekutr- K. So there must be something with mine and they are just chalking it up to random noise then. If I remember right, they said it happens only with cars with ML and camera. But then again, your is silent.

I have the same sound/problem. Its really off because the car is off and when my ear is next to it, I hear it clearly. Seems like its coming from the speaker...

Odd ****, bump if anyone knows what it is. BTW I have ML/Back up camera on my car as well.

if the sound is coming from the trunk exclusively, then no, i don't hear it, just tried to listen for it in the garage. Nothing.

hmmm ... one time i heard this buzzing sound from my 2008 GS AWD which appeared to come from the gas tank area ... i heard it in the garage for about 5-10 mins after the car was shut off. Only happened once. Not sure what it was.

Ok, I just went to the trunk, just to make sure I wasn't hearing something that wasn't there. I brought the wife. I had her put her ear up the that black mesh that I'm guessing has the wiring that goes to the trunk lid. She could hear a buzzing from it.
If the garage is quiet, you can can hear it if you each for something in the trunk. I'm sure its nothing too bad or my trunk would've caught fire or something by now. Just annoying. Not as bad as the creaking sound from the dash.

Isnt that the pump for the gas vapor, that pump goes on even when the car is off. Yeah, what whlkev said

why does the cable to the trunk lid make the noise? The gas tank isnt in that cable.

yup, it sounds like it coming from there... BUT... the ML speaker is also there...

wild guess, its the speaker. lol

doesnt bother me, but if i could find out what it is, then errr yeah. lol
