Talking Fuse Questions/Radar Hardwire Project

I'm in the middle of a custom Valentine One radar hardwire project. I've decided that I want to keep the remote display hidden and found that it just about fits in the ashtray. Modification of the internal ashtray must be done, but this is a sweet spot for the display. I will have close-up pics and how to mod the ashtray instructions for this install soon--- but I blew the cig lighter and the ashtray lamp fuse or fuses during a power check. I have identified the cig. lighter fuse on the passenger side kick panel, can't find the lamp fuse yet. I am having a lot of difficulty seeing the fuses in the box (age 53, close-up accomodation is not good, invisible bifocal glasses are not helping)!!!

1) Anyone know if the blade type fuse for the ashtray lamp is on the same circuit as the lighter? (I think it's seperate, but not sure)
2) Can I purchase these 15 amp blade fuses anywhere?

Sorry, can't answer your question but I just wanted to say that having the remote display there is a detriment to your early warning... by the time you look down and identify what's going on, you may be done for. In addition, you are taking your eyes off of the road so you can't even identify where the "threat" is coming from, not to mention it's not exactly safe.

In my Audi I had it up underneath the "visor" part of my cluster, so I could see it right there whenever I looked at my speedo, it was totally hidden and stealthy. Here's the remote display I bought, it's a modified slim version: http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-THIN-Vale...QQcmdZViewItem

the guy who sells it is great, he's a fellow audizine.com member. You may want to consider getting something like that for better integration

I got both remote display (stock and modified) and I have yet to tackle the install...I'll do it this weekend

Blown fuse update. Sure enough, quick replacement of the 10amp blade fuse for the lighter fixed my power problem. OEM fuses available in all automotive retail stores, of course. I will UL pics of the ashtray/Valentine remote upgrade later. I purchased an assortment of fuses to be prepared for the future...
