I will be installing a SLI next week and need a few recommendations for those that have this installed.
1. Is it recommended to mount the unit where it can be readily accessed? It is my understanding that once you program it, there is no need for access.
2. I have read where folks route the Ipod adapter in the glove box, some have put it in the console. It there a need to access the Ipod while driving?
3. I’m thinking of installing a cable (RCA jacks on one end, single earphone jack on the other) just in case I ever have a need to connect a different MP3 player other than Ipod. Any thoughts?
Any other recommendations are appreciated.

center console makes it easier to take out, i had mine in the glove box but it is a bit hard to reach over and unplug. No need to ever touch it otherwise while driving.
make sure you dont get the new unit sl2i, instead the old one - sli . since new one has no extra input, but only ipod input. PM me if you want the old unit.

Thanks for the feedback. I purchased the SLI (one with AUX inputs) during a Group Buy some time ago. Just now acquired a Nano, so I will be installing this soon.
For those interested in Firmware updates (copied from my earlier post)
VaisTech issued a firmware update within the last couple of months. I discovered that you have a few options in order to receive the update.
1. If your unit is still under warranty, send them the unit for a free update. You pay for shipping to them.
2. If your unit is out of warranty, you can update the firmware yourself if you purchase a required adapter ($50.00 on their website) or ship the unit (at your expense) to them for the update, a $30.00 charge.
I was advised that the new firmware will allow >99 playlist. Folks that have Generation 5 head units will be able to take advantage of additional functionalities planned in future firmware updates. Their website has a forum where you can obtain additional information.
