Default Bad Radio Quality

I have noticed that since day 1 of owning my 08 gs350 AWD, the radio can pick up a good amount of static while listening to some of the major radio stations in my area. It happens at least once everytime I am in the car and listening to any station.

I have been doing some research and noticed that some ES's have this same problem. In fact, when my car was at the dealer for the software update, they gave me an 07 ES loaner which had the same problem.

This is the vehicle's problem, and it has existed even before I had my windows tinted. I would not say it has increased though. I don't have the ML system, but that should not matter.

I tried searching on this site and didn't find very much info about this.

Has anybody else experienced this???

I think this all depends on the area that you are driving at sometime it will happen. It happened to me on my XM before but I am not sure what is up with the normal radio....

i was going to say "tint" could be the issue, but it looks like you've been experiencing this for awhile now.

Yeah, I know the tint isn't an issue. Especially because the ES loaner I drove had no tint, but the same poor radio reception.

You may want to review this thread I remembered from way back on here. Good luck with it.

Yup. I brought it up with my Lexus dealer. He said it was "normal" reception.

What color's your 3GS?

I think mine is acceptable. Static at times when under bridge but nothing that lasts for more than a few minutes.

My GS is obsidian. My radio reception is horrible if I am on an open air highway through the middle of town, in the suburbs, anywhere..... Obviously it does go out when in a long tunnel, but I can understand that.

there is a specific section of a freeway around here that loses reception on this station. I thought it's just the car, but then I tested it on 3xBMW, Lexus, Mercedes, they all lose reception, all kinds of loaners, external antenna or not. Same thing.

works everywhere else like every other car so i don't believe there is anything different about Lexus' reception

are you saying you are not having this problem with other cars you have?

Yes, I had an Audi, Mercedes, Lexus and a BMW, non of which have this issue in the areas I drive in.

I am probably going to talk to the dealer about this sometime this week, but I feel like I will be wasting my time because they are just going to blame my window tints.

I have a similar problem, but most the stations just do commercials, so no big loss.
