You're thinking too hard at this guys. I had the same issue, which Lexus won't replace the windshield. THey are right, I believe its just the rain replellent scratched.

Buy the rainclear. I think I got mine from autozone. Rub it on. wipe off. No more swirlmarks. And best part is once it wears off, I swear I don't get the swirlmarks after.

The Rain Clear did not work, and my scratches which look more like swirls aren't even that serious. I guess I'm going to have to hit up a winshield repair spot.

Do you remember how you applied the rain clear? I used a regular pad without using a buffer, then wiped it off with a microfiber towel. Should I use a buffer?
