Brake dust

I thought that all 08s had the same brake pads as the 06-07s except the 450h which had the low dust pads. Has there been a TSIB released now for the 08s? Im sure many of us want to know this.

Yup, I brought my car in (08) and no TSIB, no change pads. I get a dust patina after 2 days even with waxed rims. It's annoying to the point I am considering paying to change the pads.

my little 2 cents on waxing the wheels. it might help a little, but i wouldn't expect a whole lot, unless they are something explicitly for wheels. wheels get pretty hot on driving, not to mention to brake dust. a lot of wax they "melt" at higher temp. so after a while the wax will be gone.
i did that before, it helped the first 2-3 days maybe, afterwards, back to old shape.
that's why i don't bother waxing wheels

the purpose of waxing the rims is not strictly for preventing the dust from accumulating on the wheels but also for the ease of washing them off.
when you don't wash your rims for weeks if not months, it will require much more effort clean the dust off compared to non waxed rims.

That meguirs ultimate quick detailer is only suppose to last a week or 2. That spray on stuff is easy to use but dont last too long.

i can now confirm that it's totally BS from dealership that the 08 gs already has the "dustless" pads.
in short, i changed the pads to the real dustless ones, and it's been over a week and my front wheels are still the same color as the rears. now this is what i call normal. the change in the amount of brake dust was night and day.
braking power is the same, so changing the pads didn't translate to worse braking.
also, the new pads do NOT squeak at all. that's coz' they did it the right way by surfacing the rotors, etc... when putting on the new pads. it's very quiet
you would wonder why lexus has these dusty pads to begin with...

No, the dealer never said my 08 came with the dustless pads, he said the 08 has a different part number on the pad as opposed to both types of pads on the 07.
