Assuming you have a '07-08 3GS with the 2GR-FSE V6 engine, officially it takes 6.6 US qts when changed with filter. FWIW, I use 6.5 qts, since its easier to measure .5 than .6 of a qt of oil . . . (always double check oil level on the dipstick)

yup, i was reading the manual yesterday. i am pretty sure it's 6.6 as well

i think for the gs430 it's also more or less the same (from my memory on the gs400)

now for gs460, it's going to be a very painful experience to the wallet

How do you guys measure 6.6? It'd probably be much easier if I used the 1 quart oil containers. It's a bit tougher for me since I buy the big 5 quart Mobil1 containers. Obviously, if I pour in one container, I'll have to add in an additional "1.6 quarts". Getting to that exact amount is kinda tough so I just check my oil level with the dip stick.

Is there a drawback to using too much oil? Say I accidentally poured in 7 quarts?

Yeah the 2GR has large oil capacity. Just ask the 2IS guys.

the amount is in the manual. it's good to read manual sometimes

for the car, 5w-30 is the spec.

If you were reading the DIY that I made with pictures, I state that the car takes 6.6Q but to put in 6.5Q. Do a search for it.

Simple, buy 1 qt of the same oil and use the qt container to measure out 1.5 qts (empty 5qt jug for 5qts, empty 1 qt container for 1 qt, refill to .5 qt from a 5qt jug and pour into engine = 6.5 qts)
