The ES has to be the most boring car I have ever driven in my entire life.

^ Uh no, that honor would go to a Ford Taurus.

For Chrissakes, the ES is still a Lexus: semi-aniline leather, ML, gen 5 Nav, Park Assist, the UL has a panoramic roof - lets no get TOO carried away...

No kidding, there's no need to trash the ES. The ES is a very nice car that serves its purpose as a comfortable entry level lexury sedan.

I just don't get why this one specific scenario is worth dumping a perfectly good GS but to each his own. +1 for not taking an ES but if you are that unhappy with what you've got, i can't imagine getting a better deal.

the ES is NOT in the same ballpark as the 3GS. i too was "privileged" enough to have an ES for a couple days while my 3GS was in the shop for the dash issue......and i was completely unhappy and disappointed with it. if it wasnt for the "L" on the steering wheel, i woulda thought i was driving a Honda or something.

to trade your GS in for an ES would be like trading in your '07 LS460 for as '08 GS460h!! Its just NOT a smart move. Drive with your front windows cracked a little and suffer if you have to............

man every car I have owned with 4 doors does that to some degree. I am not going to get all PHYSICS on your asses, but I thought it was normal. It will probably still happen in the new car. My GS does the same thing

every time I get it as a loaner I am so happy to get rid of it and drive my RWD car. RWD is far superior to FWD in my opinion ( I live in AZ , no snow or rain)

Just for the record... . I've not been able to drive with the windows down/cracked at all. Highest temp. since I bought my GS has been 50, and I was out of town at the time. It hit 45 yesterday, but had my son in the car, so had to keep the temp up for him. (little guy).

Looking forward to spring, open windows, finding out if the GS' moon roof really works. Do those ventilated seats work? Will I have the break dust problem? .... things I just don't know yet, due to the snow/cold weather.

The GS like all car makes a helicopter noise when you roll down just one rear window. My last 2 Lexus and the Acura b4 that did the same thing. Just crack open a front window and the noise is gone. Its the air try to get into the car and the air inside the car try to get out, they are fighting each other. A good example would be when you pour out a big bottle of water, it make a gulping sound, but if you open a vent hole on top, the gulping is gone. That vent hole is your front window when you crack it.

How old are you? If you are under 50 and you even considered driving an ES then I don't think this forum can help you. I live in south Florida where I don't think I have ever seen an ES driver that can see over the steering wheel and doesn't have white hair. The bottom line is, the ES is a nice car but not in the same league as the GS.

Sk8, G Man is correct. I own an ES (fortuntately I can see over the steering wheel) and it makes the same noise as the other GS owners are reporting. So if you're thinking of trading just for that reason, you'll be disappointed. If it's for some other reason(s) maybe not.

For the record, my 2004 RX330 also made that helicopter noise when a single window was rolled down. You had to either crack another window or the sunroof for it to go away. Never bothered my since I live in Hawaii and we use the AC nearly 24/7 so the windows stay up nearly all the time.
