Now I walk pretty fast, but the lighting and the beep of the unlock doesn't occur until I pause for a few milliseconds with my hand near the handle. Is this normal? My salesman thought it wasn't, but my service rep said it was. Thoughts?

How far away are you when it beeps unlock?
Seriously? I never even noticed the ambient lighting (it comes on BEFORE you even get to the car?). Also, I have to touch the handle to open the door -- is that wrong?

not sure about the previous years but for the 08, the lights under the side mirrors light up when you approach the car and before the unlock. I just have to walk by it at night to light them up, pretty neat

of course it's not wrong, the door doesn't automatically unlock when you approach! how dangerous is that! the sensors are behind the door handles, you have to either come close or touch it for it to unlock.

The vented seats seems to be a nice feature.

I haven't actually opened it up to see what's underneath, but judging from the color output, I am pretty sure they are LED.

Perhaps you are always in a brightly lit area? in Arizona, it can get pitch black at night in my area and they seem to light up the area perfectly fine.

i think you can toggle that feature on/off with one of the overhead buttons (that aren't backlit ) not 100% positive

I doubt its LED, its a 194 wedge bulb on the 2IS, which I replaced with Piaa Xtreme white bulbs. The color does seem whiter than the IS, so it may just be a whiter 194 bulb. One day when I'm bored I may take a look. . .

hm.. u seem bored today, so go find out! knowing lexus for putting "clear" 194 bulbs which will produce a yellowish glow instead of white on the 3GS.

if they are indeed 194, then perfect for me, i have tons of those bulbs laying around

^ LOL, bored at the office aint the same as bored at home. This goes to the bottom of the list, still need to put on the caliper stickers, put in the silvervision bulbs and swap out the fogs . . .

Do the pre 2008 GS models have the side mirror light up with smart access?

How about the absolutely smooth way the machine goes from 40mph to 85...effortless...

almost makes up for the dash rattles...huh, G-man?...I said almost.

Well almost . I have driven many cars that can accelarate effortlessly from 40 to 85 and without the dash rattles. Now that its warm out, I dont have have any rattles at all, so I am good for another 8 months

Actually I miss the drama of hearing and feeling the acceleration. Sure it quicky and smoothly goes from point a to point b on the speedometer, but it does so quietly that I get no feeling of power. I actually miss that.

Of course, my gold standard in that area was the one year old Chevy 409 I drove in high school. Maybe it was because I worked hard to pay for the car, but I sure did love the dramatic sound of the engine and sometimes the squeeling of the tires as they broke loose from the payment. I loved the drama of it all.
