Trunk light
Does anybody know how to change the light bulb on the trunk light. Do you just pry with a screwdriver on the switch side? Does only the lense come off or the whole housing pop out?
Thanks

Are you planning on switching out the bulb for a LED? If so, which LED are you using. Post pics if you are too.
I think whelkev changed out his bulb, and maybe some others. I am thinking about doing this and want some ideas.
Thanks.

Ok. finally got it in, took about an hour lol, lots of mistakes. This panel barely fits the housing, I have no idea how some of you guys got a 24 or 36 LED panel in there. 1st thing I did was bent the bracket that holds the bulb with 2 needle nose because the adapter that came with the kit were a little bigger, that was the easy part. Put the LED panel in and find that the back housing of the fixture will not lock in tightly with the LED in place, it was like a mm thicker than the housing, so I re-solder the power wires from top of the circuit board to the bottom so the wires wont have to run up the side to give it a little more room. This give the back housing a little more room but still not enough to lock in. Then it started getting close to dinner time and I need a quick solution I took the back housing to the bench grinder and trim it and now it lock in. Went outside to the car and put everything back in and no light, now my wife is screaming at me to come to dinner I took it apart and re-solder everything, install it back in, no light. I then meter the whole circuit board with a ohm meter and it check out fine. Install it back in and no light. Put the original bulb back in and we have light. At this point I was scratching my head. I install the LED back in again and it lit up It finally dawn on me that it’s an LED panel and it is polarity sensitive and I been putting it in backward all this time, I should have known that since I am a EE I blame my wife for rushing me

I took a couple of pics. Keep in mind that lights in pictures always look brighter than in real life, These LED panels are a little brighter, maybe 10% to 20% brighter than the oem bulb in real life but have a much whiter color. Overall, a very good mod for under $20.

Nice, I just found a set on e-bay for 12 LED panel for under $15... The picture says it shows a 6LED panel but the winner gets 12 LED panel...

I saw that one but I dont think 12 LED will be bright enough, Those circuit board mounted Festoon LED are not that bright. The one I got was 15 LED and was barely bright enough. I would have bought the 24 or 32 LED panel if I can somehow fit it in there. The dimension on my is 40mm x 27.5mm and it barely fits.
