What OEM tire does Lexus use on the GS now? Summer tires that is.

Yup. They quoted the 17in. The 18in is quoted for around $260. Now they have to "check" if they will cover it.

Looks like things are getting closer to be closed. After getting the tire size thing cleared up, Lexus figured the replacement tire would be around $260. They had wait and see if Yokohama would cover it. The $130 was a "wholesale" price that was quoted to them from Yokohama for the smaller tire.
WHen I emailed Yoko, I told them I would understand about paying for part of the tire. Yoko went above and beyond and offered to cover $250+ for each and I can go get my own tires. Of course I still need to wait and see if Lexus is going to cover one of the 4 tires still. But that was nice of Yokohama.
If this gets handled the way I'm hoping, I'm going to Costco and order the tires. So far I think I'm getting the Michilins 245/40 18in PS2. Do you think that is the best choice for noise/wear/handling? No snow here, but it does rain.

Noise is fairly low with the PS2 but being it a summer only tire, it has a very low treadwear meaning they do stick very well, but don't last as long. If you're looking for an all around performer, you should look probably into the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

I thought about that. Being shown how to read the tread wear, the old a10B was rated 160. The PS2 is 220. So if all things being equal, if the a10b lasted 1.5 years. I should get 2-2.5 with the ps2. Which would be well enough for me considering they are sport tires.

Well, I got the new tires. Picked them up from Costco. Got the Mich 245/40 18in ps2. They are suposed to reimburse me for those tires (not full cost). I never knew how big groves were on the ps2. Theres like 3 main groves that's huge. I wonder how much of that effects noise. So far its quiter on most roads. Some roads are louder, but I think its my imagination.

depends how good your roads are. They get louder over time, adn the tire wear rating sucks big time. I think if I finally figured this out correctly, it made to last around 16k miles. The mich is around 22k miles and by compairason regular sedan type tires last about 60k.
