I had my aunts 203 C320 lemoned, from the day we pulled it off the lot **** started breaking.

My friend had his 03 E55 lemoned, the dealers pretty much rebuilt the whole engine to no avail, his problems still persisted.

My cousins Sl500 is in the shop once a month, maybe more for random issues that an 80,000+ car should not have.

My uncles S500 had his suspension give out twice, looked like he was trying to lay frame. It also had random electrical issues which would pop up intermittently and then disappear after a few hours/days.

Ummm I can list more but I'm just tired..

Now I've heard that Mercedes has straightened up their act in the past few years and I wish the best to them but I personally wont drive one... well maybe a AMG under warranty

Out of the three choices, I'd get the CLS550. Love the styling and the V8 makes plenty of power. There are pretty attractive incentives on the CLS right now d/t the upcoming '09 refresh.

As for the OP's question, are you planning on leasing or buying? If buying, I'd also consider a low mileage used CLS55 or CLS63. AMGs tend to depreciate quickly and you can find some great deals on used cars...especially in this weak economy.

This is Apples vs Oranges. Without argument the CLS is gorgeous and would be in my garage instead of my 3G GS. But my budget won't allow that to happen. They are virtually the same, luxury performance sedans, just on extremely different levels. IMO the LS is more lux. than perf.. I wouldn't throw it out of the garage though.

I do want to add, FOR THE RECORD, in the European Magazine "CAR" they had a comparo between the GS 300, CLS 350 and 530 in Europe.
1. 530
2. GS 300
3. CLS 350

Very commendable for the GS. This was 2 years ago.

I think things would have been different if the V8 models were tested (545i, GS430, and CLS 550).

If price isn't the issue go with the Benz if you don't care about the price or lack of room in the back seat... its very gangsta if you get black on black =)

I do not mean to beat this one to death, but the CLS 550 with AMG Package was going to be my choice before picking up my 3GS. (AMG was way too pricey and I wanted brand new.)

The only hitch was the lack of AWD and here in the NE as a daily driver I needed that.

You, however, can live the dream for both of us!

So how many people chiming in with "go for the CLS550", have actually driven the CLS550?

Haven't drove the CLS550, but have driven the CLS500 and the CLS63. Love the CLS
