Default Looking to get my first Lexus (GS300)

Looking to get a used 06 GS300 with Navi/ML with anywhere from 20-30k miles on it. I have a friend who is a dealer and goes to the same auctions that Lexus Dealers go to get their stock and wanted to know what can I expect to pay?

Has anyone bought a CPO 06 GS 300 from a dealer? what did you pay?

(yes, i did try the search function...did see the reference to a "price thread", but couldn't find it anywhere...)

How much do dealers "typically" mark it up when they bring it back to their lot? I know if i go through my friend, I won't get the CPO warranty...

Just wanted to get some rough numbers.

Thanks all! Glad to be a part of this great community of Lexus owners. Hopefully I can join the GS club soon!

Thanks for the reply...seeing as i would want a RWD and not AWD, i'm assuming a CPO could be had for about 32k from a dealer...interesting...

well the place i got mine from was a dealer however it was not a lexus dealer or an actual dealer type place. its called auto lenders and they sell all cpo cars but they usually sell them for about 3-5k less than what an actual dealer sells them for. i found the same car i was looking for at a dealer in delaware, same options, same everything and they had it listed for 39k.

While not the same car, I think there's possibly some useful information that you can take away...

I recently bought a CPO 06 GS430 42K Mi $37,000 - It didn't have a window sticker (just arrived) and had an Internet price of $38,000 - The KBB avg trade-in was $31,000

I consider that a rough markup of $6,000 (Way too much - but that was the best I could do)

A couple of weeks later, my father bought a CPO 04 LS430 24K Mi $30,500 - Internet price was $33,900 - The KBB avg trade-in was $29,500

I consider that a rough markup of $1,000.

Couple of things. My father's car was bought, serviced and traded back in on a new LS all at the same dealership. I thought it was a great find, but still, there are a ton of LS430s on the area Lexus lots. Also, he bought at the very end of the month. They took his offer of $30,500 without blinking. A friend who's at a Saturn dealership told me that there is truth to calendar month based effort to move cars.

Wait until the end of next week. You may well be in a better bargaining position.

My car was one of two 06 GS430s available in the area - my loss. I bought early in the month and got a car that had just arrived. The dealership had time to try to get their price.

There are a ton of 06 GS300's everywhere - even more so in CA population centers. You should be able to do pretty well IMO.

I believe the CPO warranty (36 from CPO purchase/100,000 Total Miles) is about a $2,000 value to the buyer - obviously not a $2,000 cost to the dealership.

Wow...THANKS!

A local lexus dealership has a 06 GS430 fully loaded at 37k...was going to START negotiating at 32k....but i don't know..it has 50k miles on it..a bit much for me.......

I wouldn't mind getting a GS430 fully loaded...and with 30k miles i'd be willing to pay 33k-ish...but not much more than that....

We'll see what my dealer friend can find at those auctions... If it's from the auctions i want 20k or less miles....eh..we'll see...i'm interested in fellow californian's experiences as well....i'm in Orange County, Ca.

i doubt you'll find anything with that low miles for 32 or 33k. i looked on autotrader and they were around 41k fully loaded with 30k on them.

well just to give you an idea on the 300s the place i looked at had about 6-7 different gs 300s but they all didnt have the navigation and mark levinson system in it. the one i liked was the one that was fully loaded and they only had 1. the price for mine like said was 35k (i got 1k off) and it had 30k on it. the other ones were the same price give or take 1k but the milage ranged from 15k to 20k. if your looking to spend only 32k i think you might be able to find 1 fully load for that price but it wont be in your milage range or you would have to settle for one thats not fully loaded.

I got my 06 GS300 blk/blk with ML/nav and all the bells and whistles to go with it except i got the 17" wheels w/72k miles 1 month ago. It's a lexus so the miles didn't phase me but i paid $28k for mine and the care has been serviced by dealers only with all records.

Maybe you're right...i can settle for a GS300 with 30k...maybe even 40k....if that means i can get a fully loaded one for 32 or 33k....

Anyone ever purchase from mission viejo lexus?

Interesting - I just looked at the Lexus website for CPO's in CA and at the Mission Viejo website to see what they have. It looks like CA is the place to buy. Prices looks to be $3-5,000 lower across the board ES, IS, GS, RX, etc.. GS RWD does seem to be more prevalent (but I guess that makes sense).

That Mission Viejo dealership typifies the choice you're facing - for the same $33,000, they have a GS300 with 21K Mi (no ML/no Nav) or a GS430 with 56K Mi (w ML and Nav). I suppose some don't even see this as a choice one way or the other.

They are both CPO, so you're looking at the same warranty.

If that GS430 is in spectaular shape, I guess I might consider 56K Mi. Some people would take the choice of 21K Mi w/o options without even thinking about it.

Both of those cars have been there almost 2 months - the dealership wants them gone - get in there and name your price. Try to take them to the cleaners.

I kind of stumbled into my choice to go with the GS430 and to accept a car with 42K Mi. I had actually completely decided on the Acura RL. I was looking for mileage in the teens. Very late into my search, I opened up to the GS300. My mileage cap went to 30K and I was wanting to keep the price to the low $30s. I was open to no ML/no Nav. I was at a dealer and took a GS430 for a test drive on a lark. I was sold on the 430 almost immediately. With that, I stretched my price range and mileage limit.

I wish I could have done better on the price, but I absolutely love the car!
