Default OEM or Aftermarket Rear Lip Trunk Spoiler?

Hey guys:

I'm in the processing of getting a 2008 GS450h, and I'm debating whether I should go with an OEM rear lip trunk spoiler or aftermarket rear lip trunk spoiler (like from Ings, for example). Which one would you choose and why? Thanks for your opinion/help!

are you special ordering one? because I am almost positive that any 450h you buy from the lot will have a lip already

I prefer the OEM look and its fit and finish

OEM.

to me, the aftermarket spoilers look way to drastic and yell for attention. waist of money...IMHO.

According to my auto broker, it seems that a special order might be necessary to get APSSS, MK audio, and Navi in Mercury metallic (which are the options I want) - APSSS does not seem to come in large numbers. If that is the case, the 450h I order may not come with a rear lip trunk spoiler (unless I specify). Hence the reason for my post.

Wow, overwhelming result! I did not expect this, I thought it would be closer like 60-40 in favor of OEM. Looks like the choice is clear - OEM it is! Thanks guys for voting, I'm gonna tell my broker to make sure the OEM lip is included.

fit and finish? there's a nice big gap in mine, where you can see the double stick tape.

the artisan spirits spoiler isn't bad. nice size.

that's weird, OEM one shouldn't be taped, i believed it's drilled into the trunk, mine is perfect...

from what i can see, it's drilled and taped.
the left/right tips are taped down. i've got a 2-3mm gap. it doesn't sit flush on the trunk.

Fit and Finish will be just as good with OEM. Lexus and many other companies out source these anyway. I like the aftermarket ones out there. OEM looks good but it the car doesnt have it then save the $$ and go aftermarket and be different!

forget about what everyone else has in your area! I'm sure the other GS don't have the same aftermarket rims and that didn't stop you from going aftermarket? why do what your neighbors are doing?

This is correct its double sided tape and the bolts. I believe its 2 bolts on the GS. The double sided tape is more then enough to hold them in place.

To the OP:
You have many options to go with here and I would wait to see what you really want and not what others have! OEM is good and looks good with out a doubt. Aftermarket will look better IMO and save you the $$ the stealership wants to charge you for that. You can also get that same spoiler for a fraction of the cost from one of our vendors if OEM is what will make you happy. I have installed them on many cars and its really easy if you are up for a DIY? Either way you go fit and finish will be all the same. Its all about looks and one will be the same as the rest and the other will be more unique

Good luck in your decision!
