Default Soon To Be 450h Owner

I will be picking up a new 2008 450h White/Cashmere possibly this weekend or early next week. The dealer is having car transported from another dealer. As I previously stated in another thread, the lease specs were as follows: 39 mos, 18k miles/yr, only 1st months payment out of pocket. (MSRP ~60k). Lease payment is $999/month. Is this a good lease????(apparently it must be since the next best deal was $1500 OOP and $1011/month). I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Hello there
I am not an expert on leases, but for that price you should be in an LS460 IMO. After 39 months, you wil lhave forked down 39,000. Does it make sense to lease this car when you could purchase it and resell it for more after your use? I could see the lease being 600 and making a bit more sense. I know I am thinking about this wrong but what am I missing? Enlighten me a bit....you could even lease a E55 AMG for about the same....

I am not interested in the cars which you mentioned. I asked if this was a good lease rate for the GS 450h. I would like to know other CL members' lease rates for the GS 450h. Thanks.

Maybe it's just me but that doesn't sound like a good deal at all. I agree with Eyekutr it would be better if you just bought the car and resold the car. You would be paying out maybe 25k at most(most likely 15k) once you sell the car. And it always feel nicer owning your own car than leasing one. Just my .02

i highly doubt you can lease a ls460 for anything close to that. nor can you get a e63 (no more e55). even with the super good lease programs on mb, a e63 will run you over 1100 a month

with that said, i don't think 999 is a good deal or not. you need to get all the numbers like the residuals, money factor, cap cost, etc... in order for someone to tell you. 18k miles a yr is high for a lease car, that's probably why the payment is higher

for the record, ~1100 for e63? that's on 12k miles a yr. 18k miles a yr will be quite a bit more

as stated, it's a very complicated and ultimately somewhat subjective about whether that is a good deal or not. Good enough that they offered it and you accepted, so I hope you enjoy your car. nice choice

I agree that it doesn't sound like a good deal. But neither would I BUY a hybrid. Technology is too new and resale is undetermined. Based on numbers from leasecompare.com, with no money down, your payments should be approx $882/month for a 36 (not 39) month lease.

I saw the dealer sheet for a GS450H lease and the money factor is pretty low until June 30. Unfortunately the residual is low too ......about 45% if I remember. The lease number should still be pretty good though.....better than $999.

sounds pretty reasonable. I just got a 450h, 61+ sticker, 48 months, 12k/month, $1500 drive-offs = $850/month including tax.

Only one dealer in the area would give me a deal even close to that. Most were at least 50-100 more.
