Default How does your GS smell?

I know this is a weird one, but does your GS smell bad? I have an 08 GS350 and neither I nor my children like the interior smell. I am not referring to so called new car smell - this has come later I think. I've had the car for 4 months, and I think it started after about a month or two. Any one else experience this?

Never heard of such, and I agree with you - this is a weird one.

mine has never had an unpleasent smell inside. it didn't really have a heavy new car smell either when i bought it. i do notice that it doesn't smell like anything really at all when it is cold out but when it's hot like this, it does smell more like a new car. my dad, who very rarely rides in the car, mentioned the other day that it still has that new car smell and i've had it for 15 months. he bought a brand new subaru back in 1999 and that thing smelled like wolf **** from the day he bought it. have you used any sort of chemical on your leather that may be seeping out or something? is there anything (food, otherwise) under the front or back of either of the seats? time for a very nice, very fancy lemon scented pine tree...

I know exactly what you are talking about... My 07 GS does have a weird smell when I turn on the A/C for a couple of minutes and then goes away when I am driving... I even replaced the cabin air filter (i think it helped a little bit). I think it might have something to do with the HOT temperature ? I am in Orlando / Miami, Florida and it is hot as f&#$ over here..

you need to air out the a/c before shutting off the car.

a/c funk has been a problem with all of our old toyots.

Make sure you open your vents to Fresh after using the a/c or when you are going to park.

Otherwise....

or

or you can always spray this in your cowl vent on the outside lower portion of your windshield...

I've had my 08 GS350 for only 2 weeks now and when I turned on my A/C yesterday I smelled that funky smell too. Smells like wet dirty socks. WTF? How exactly do you "air out the a/c before shutting off the car"??? What does this entail?

That must be it. It is definitely worse in the heat. I will run it on fresh air before shut down and let you know the results. Thanks.

turn the ac off. leave the fan on. turn off recirculation.
so it's just outside air running through the pipes. that should dry out the condensation.

you don't want to get to the point where you have to use lysol. it doesn't get rid of the mold, and it makes your whole car smell of another funk.

Is there anyway to "recharge" or bring back that new car smell? It's been 18 months since I got my ride. I wash my car regularly and and still smells semi new. I think conditioning the leather helps, but I'm wondering if you guys have any tricks. I've seen the product from Griots where you spray it on your mats and it's suppose to make your car smell "new". Any other tricks?
