Default iSimple - iPod Connection for 07 GS430

I know this has been beaten to death and I have searched the threads/posts for information on this. I was looking at Best Buy.com and they have an iPod connector call iSimple iPod Direct Connect Kit. It is $150. The model number is ISIM71 and it states specifically that it will work with an 06-07 GS430 among other Lexus, Toyota, Honda and Acura models.

My question - Does anyone have this installed in their GS? If so, would you recommend it? If I do end up getting this, I think I will try to install it myself. I think this means I need to take the NAV screen/radio,etc. apart. I will search the forum for how to do that if/when the time comes. Just wanted to see if anyone out there has this and what they think. Sorry about another iPod posting...there are plenty on here already...that's for sure. Thanks in advance!!!

If it's anything like the plug and play Lexus/Toyota OEM iPod control module, yes you would need to pull out the NAV/HVAC/CD center unit out to access the plugs in the rear.

I have the Lexus Accessory iPod adapter installed on my 07 GS350. I will be doing a short write up on it soon.

Do I have to sacrifice my satelite with that unit?

The only unit i'm aware of that will not sacrifice your satellite radio with the ipod adapter is the Vaistech unit.

looking at the plugs, the shape looks like the ones for lexus (not 100% of course, just the shape). and yes, you will need to access the back of nav

What would the cost be for the Lexus adapter? Is it smarter to go with a Lexus part rather than this iSimple? Do you have the ability to control the iPod from the steering wheel controls or the NAV screen, or do you have to control it from the actual iPod?

flipside and i installed the adapter together. you can use the steering wheel to go to next/prev tracks, but i don't think you can go to next folder. you can access the ipod through the nav screen. flipside didn't really need to take out the ipod.

I have the Lexus Adapter installed in my car. You can control on touchscreen and with steering wheel control. The part was $235 from Lexus and $300 to install.

Yes that's correct, you have access to move to the next song. If you hold the up/down button on the steering wheel, it will just scan through the song. Rominl and I figured it was best to just leave it in the glove box for access as the Ipod's own controls become inoperable when it's plugged in.

wow, I didn't know this existed... http://www.lexus.com/models/GS/acces..._for_iPod.html
from the picture, looks like just wires, no brain. Why would 2011 GS need a Ipod Adpater? 2008+ GS's comes with USB port inside the armrest...

I already bought Isimple and had it installed. Work nice, still need to really learn how to use. Also learning how to use ipod/itunes as well (bought at the same time).

Do only certain years come with the Auxillary port? Every lexus I've been in so far has a aux port.. how much is an audio cable from best buy? like $20? Just plug that into your phone/ipod and you're good to go.
