Agreed. It's just a dealership sales gimmick like the "slasher" used car sales that many of them use. It's just a lure to get you in.

I took them up on their letter, I showed up to see if I could squeeze a deal in my favor. they wouldn't bite.

they did pretty much insult me though by saying my '06 GS300 with every option and 13,000k miles was worth 26k. I couldn't stop laughing when he said that...people around thought I was crazy.

I think that the phrase a Lexus is a Lexus is true for all but the ES, which is basically a camry. All other Lexus models are pure lexus!

You have to admit that an Acura REALLY is more like a Honda than any of the others! Infiniti is SLIGHTLY less of a Nissan and A Lexus is alot more a Lexus than a Toyota.. I see his point in the sig.

Its a total buyers market for cars and buybacks are not in the seller's favor right now.. Don't let them suck you in..

I guess you forgot the other Lexus models which are still currently Toyota's exact model in Japan or still has a Toyota related counterpart in the US. The only thing the ES350 and the Camry share are suspension, engine and transmission components. Everything else is not identical.

RX350 - Toyota Harrier (JPN) - Toyota Highlander (US)
GX470 - Toyota Land Crusier Prado - Toyota 4Runner V8 (US)
LX570 - Toyota Land Cruiser (JPN/US)
SC430 - Toyota Soarer (JPN)
ES350 - Toyota Windom (JPN) - Toyota Camry V6(US)

No more Toyota Soarer in Japan since 2006, it became the Lexus SC430 there too with the facelift, & the official introduction of the Lexus brand there.

I think Infinity is a lot like a Nissan. If you look inside the new Murano and the G and the M, the center console and the Nav control looks exactly the same.

I stand by my statement with respect to the US market solely. Don;t know and don't care about what's sold in Japan. The only thing in your list which I would add is the LX-Land Cruiser being a lot alike. The RX is too far off a Highlander and the GX too far from a 4Runner to be confused or interchangeable in some consumers' minds. I've heard all too often people saying that they see no need to buy a ES when they can get a Camry for much cheaper. I don't see this same problem with the GX or RX.

I don't know about the mechanicals, I'm just looking at the engine/tranny and exterior and interior style and features. Good thing it doesn't affect me because there is nothing close to the GS or LS. Although, I've heard talk about the GS and Avalon being interchangeable-I've never been around an Avalon to know if this is true or not.

Lexus sales are down over 20%.
They'll be a lot of that kind thing going on.
